Unit 5 Nelson Mandela----a modern hero Warming up Speaking Lecturer: 1.Teaching Objectives A.objectives of knowledge By the end of the lesson, students are able to: use proper words to describe a certain person express opinions with correct sentence patterns Teaching Objectives B.objectives of values students learn to cultivate good qualities to build up a powerful inner world students learn invaluable experience from great people students learn to think critically 2.Analysis of the Students My target students are in Grade one. They are still at an age when they would like to share their opinions and have competition with others. They have their own idols and role models. 3.Analasis of the Teaching Material status and function This is the first period of Unit 5 Nelson Mandela, A modern hero. It is very important for the students to get to know the qualities of great people and the slip into next part. 3.Analasis of the Teaching Material content The material of this part is close to students’ life, so it’s relatively easy for them to talk about great people. 4. Teaching Difficulties and Important Points A.vocabulary about how to describe a person B.discussion about the differences between famous people and great people 5. Teaching Approaches Task-based and activity-based approach, and student-oriented approach are integrated through the whole procedure. 6.Teaching Procedures Step1: warming-up and lead-in activity, brainstorming (10mins ) T: During your growing up, who have influenced you greatly? What are they like? List as many words as you can to describe the ones that have affected you. 6.Teaching Procedures Step 2: Discussion and presentation (15mins) Use the words they have listed to talk about the people in the pictures.
