I’ll share with you something quite interesting that I’ve observed from being in the
recruitment and talent development industry for over 20 years. It’s this. I meet many very
successful candidates in big, key positions of responsibility. A big reason for their success
is that they make very good business decisions. And a big reason that they’re able
to do this is that they apply SWOT analysis, or the assessment of the Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats to the new business opportunities and
situations they encounter.
我想和你们分享一些我这20多年在招聘和人才开发行业中发现的趣事。我遇到了很多非常成功的求职者,他们
都在一些很关键的重要岗位工作。他们能成功的一大原因就是这些人知道如何做出正确的商业决策。而他
们能做出正确商业决策的一大原因就是他们会使用SWOT分析法,也就是在新的业务和工作中对 自己的优
势、劣势、机会和威胁进行分析。

However, when it comes to making big, key career decisions for themselves, these same people,
including many at very senior levels, make poor job choices. Just like many people do who are
young and less experienced. It’s because, like most of us, they tend to be more emotional, less
objective, and less thorough when it comes to their career decision-making approach.
然而,当他们需要做出重大职业选择的时候,同样是这些人,甚至很多在高层工作,却做出了很差劲的职业选

Even though you ’d think that their assessment process and approach would be similar
to how they’d approach an important business opportunity, they don ’t apply their
SWOT analysis towards the job opportunities and platforms they consider. Instead, many
