Unit4 What’s the best movie theater?

Ⅰ. Teaching aims
1. Knowledge aims:
①Students will be able to master the following words and phrases: theater, comfortable, seat, screen, close, ticket, quality, be close to.
②Students will be able to master the following sentence structures:
—What’s the best movie theater?
—Town Cinema. It’s the closest to home. And it has the most comfortable seats.
2. Ability aims:
①Students will be able to discuss their preferences.
②Students will be able to make comparisons.
3. Emotional aims:
Ss will learn to share their preferences to each other..
Ⅱ. Teaching important points
Ss can use the comparative and superlative to discuss their preferences.
Ss can make comparisons.
Ⅲ. Teaching difficult points
Students can use comparative and superlative forms correctly.
Ⅳ. Teaching aid:PPT, multimedia
Ⅴ. Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Warming up
Greet the class and play a song to make the students active.
Show them a short movie and then ask them questions.
Step 2 Presentation
T: Do you like to go to the movies?
Where do you watch movies?
What does a good movie theater need?
How do you choose a good movie theater to go to?
According to these questions, present some pictures and get students to learn the new words and phrases in this lesson.
Step 3 Practice
Ask Ss to do 1a. And get them to talk like this: I think … and … are important.
I think … and … are not important.
Check the answer with the students.
Step 4 Listening
Get Ss to listen to the material and match the statements with the movie theaters in 1b.
1. Play the recording the first time. Students only listen.
2. Play the recording a second time. Have students write the name of each movie theater on the blank line after its description.
3. Then correct the answers.
4. Listen to the three conversation again and fill in the blanks.
