The developmentand researchof teachingmethods have experienceda
long history, especially the Grammar-Translation Method, it has become a debatable
topicallthe time and thereisa hot discussionwith itinEnglishteachingfield.
Grammar-Translation Method is a traditional and ancient teaching method, and it is a
typical Teacher-Centered Teaching Method. With the development of society and the
changes of teachingobjectives,ithas been developed,improved,adjustedand
restructured constantly. At present,Grammar-TranslationMethod is still being used
widely and plays an importantrole inEnglish teachinginjunior and senior middle
schools in China. Especially in the southwest regions of the county, there are many
remote and undeveloped villagesand rural middle schools where the
Grammar-Translation Method is still being used.
This papergoes incaseof Banqiao middle school,an undevelopedrural
middle schoolin Yunnan, and analyzesthe advantagesand disadvantagesof the
Grammar-TranslationMethod so thatthe teachersand studentscan recognizethe
Grammar-TranslationMethod more clearlyin teachingand studyingprocess.The
paper also shows the expectations from the development of the Grammar-Translation
reasonablyinteachingand studyingpractice.At last,thepaperexpressesthebest
