Procedure
What the T is doing and what the Ss are doing
Before the Lesson Stage aims:
To help the lesson go smoothly
Lead-in
Stage aims:
To interest the ss
To encourage ss participation
To provide a context for the target language
Teach lexis
Stage aims:
To briefly teach the M, P and F of lexis needed to complete the activities in the lesson.
Arrange the class furniture
Check the equipment is working and know how it works- e.g. CD player Check your board pens are working
Layout your material so it’s handy for teaching Provide the tutor with your lesson plan
Divide the students into groups.
Slide 1: Greetings. Teacher tells the ss “Now I’ll introduce the friends that we cannot live without to you (introduce the concept of “animal” to ss and lead in the topic) so today we’re going to learn about different animals.
Slide 2: Teacher tells the ss “Now I would like you to watch a video and talk about what do you see in it.
Teacher asks the ss instruction check questions (ICQs): “Do you like animals? What are going to see? Are you ready (ask by different groups to cheer ss up)?” (3 mins)
Play the video (2.5 mins)
Whole class feedback (WCFB)- Teacher ask the ss to share their ideas. The group member who gives a correct answer gets a chance for the group to climb the ladder (2.5 mins)
Slide 5: Teacher tells the ss “Now I’d like you to see some pictures. What is this?” (introduce the concept of map and transition to animals living on different part of the map)
Meaning-Form-Pronunciation (MFP) (as appropriate- remember the time factor)
M-elicit target language, Concept check questions (CCQs)-
Slide 6: Where do you live? Where is the home of panda? Which animal eat bamboo? Which animal eat meat? Etc.
Review lexis Stage aims: Check that students understand the vocab
Listening and reading for specific information Stage aims:
To stress on target language
Slide 7: Which animal is the king? Which animal is in colour white and blac
