4.3.4 Writing Practice Natural Gas Output in China   As can be seen from the above chart, there has been a steady increase in the output of natural gas since 1996. In 1996, there was only 180 billion cubic meters(立方米) of natural gas produced in China. After that, almost every year witnessed a steady increase by 5 billion cubic meters. By 2000, the output had increased to 200 billion cubic meters, an increase by about 11% over that of 1996.   There are mainly two reasons leading to this sharp increase in output. Firstly, the convenience and cleanliness in natural gas itself which meets the demand of housewives for daily use and thus stimulates its output increase. Secondly, there has been an increasingly great demand for fuel resources in industries and factories because of the rapid economic growth in China.   In conclusion, we can predict that the output will continue to increase in the foreseeable future because of the greater demand for it. 4.3.4 Writing Practice Practice 3 说明:根据以下图表及中文提纲写一篇标题为“Reading Habits of Germany Students”的文章: 1)指出德国大学生喜欢阅读的图书的比例; 2)分析产生该比例的原因; 3)谈谈自己喜欢阅读什么样的书。 4.3.4 Writing Practice Reading Habits of German Students   As seen from the above pie chart, German students prefer to read popular novels rather than other kinds of books. The popular novels account for 62%, the unpopular fictions 15%, technical books 10%, poems 7% and other books 6%. Why is there such a proportion?   The following facts may explain the students’ preference. In the first place, most students like reading novels because they are interesting and not so abstract as technical books or poems. In the second place, technical books and collections of poems, which are less appealing, are only read by students and teachers majoring in them. As for the other books, which may be needed by students in a certain department, attract the smallest audience.
