Austen began to write novels as a child for her family entertainment. Her works were later published anonymously due to the prejudice against women writers at that time. She died in Winchester.In eighteenth-century, many important events occurred during her lifetime, For instance the Independence of the United States, the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, but her novels do not mention any of them.
