ChineseMedicalJournal2013,126f22) 4265 Originalarticle Dynesysdynamicstabilizationsystem forthelumbardegenerative disease：apreliminaryreportfrom China LIHai—peng，LIFang，GUAN Kai，ZHAO Guang—ming，SHAN Jian-linandSUN Tian—sheng Keywords：lumbardegenerativedisease,dynamicstabilization,Dynesys,China Background Dynesysdynamicstabilizationsystem wasfirstimplanted inpatientsin 1994．and introduced toChina in2007．Therefore．itwasanew techniqueforChineseorthopedicsandhencenecessaryto collectclinicaIdata aboutDynesysinChina．TheobjectiveofthisstudywastoreportthepreliminaryresultsofDynesysforthelumbar degenerativediseaseinChina． Methods Twenty．sevenpatientsweretreatedwiththeDynesysbetweenJuly2007andJanua~ 2009．Thediagnosis includeddegenerativespondyIoIisthesis(12cases)，degenerativespinalstenosis(ninecases)，andlumbarintervertebral discherniation(sixcases)．Backpainandlegpainwereevaluatedusing100一mmvisualanalogscales(VAS)．The OswestryDisabilityIndex(0DI)wasusedtoevaluatethepatients’function．TheintervertebraIdischeightandrangeof motionattheoperativelevelweretakenonradiographs． ResultsAllthepatientswerefollowed—up，withanaverageof(22．40~4．23)months(range15-32months)．VASofback painandlegpainwereimprovedsignificantly(PO．05)atfollow—up．TheODIscoreswerereducedfr0m (62．58~12．01)％ pre0peratiVeIyt0(15．01±5．71)％atfollow—up(P0．O5)．Thepreoperativemeanheightoftheintervertebraldiscwas (11-21±1．58)mm (range8．5-13．8mm)andmeanwas(1O．10+1．78)mm (range7．0-13．4mm)atfollow-up(P0．o5)． Themeanrangeofmotionoftheimplantedsegmentwas(6．00~1．79)。(range2．5-9．3。)preoperativelyand(5．47~1．27)。 (range2．9-7．8。)atfoIlow—up(户=0．11)． Conclusions ThepreliminaryresultsofDynesysforthe Iumbardegenerative diseaseinChina aresimilarto the publishedresultsofothercountries．1tcansignificantlyimprovetheclinicsymptomsandpreservedmotionattheleveI ofimplantat
