安丘一中英语阅读问题调查 作者简介:樊益宁(1989-),女,江苏句容人,硕士,主要研究方向为认知语言学与应用语言学。 Abstract: This paper explores the problems in English reading class in senior high school from student’s perspective, based on a questionnaire concerning learners’ individual factors and English reading practice in Anqiu No.1 Senior High School. Some pedagogical implications are purposed afterwards. Key words: English reading; senior high school; questionnaire survey; pedagogical implication 0 Introduction The development of reading ability has been one of the key objectives in English teaching. According to Goodman 1989 quoted by Yi Xiubo 2004 , reading is a psycholinguistic process in that it starts with a linguistic surface representation encoded by a writer and ends with meaning which the reader constructs. There is an essential interaction between language and thought in reading. Nowadays, in some reading classes, intensive reading is combined with extensive reading into one course, with linguistic knowledge and reading strategies taught together by using the materials of the same topic. The research on reading teaching in China have touched many topics such as reading process, function of schemata, and reading strategies. More research is needed to find ways to develop skills and strategies in reading teaching. 2 Methodology 2.1 Data collection The questionnaire research was conducted in Anqiu No.1 Senior High School. The questionnaire was particularly designed covering 92 students in target. The data was collected from the questionnaire conducted in self-study class. 2.2 Data Analysis The author classifies the whole question series into three segments: attitude, method, result and response. The classifying items are not presented to the target students in question. From Attitude Section, 100% students have positive attitude towards English reading and they think it抯 very important to improve reading ability. 60% of them have clear plans to promote their reading ability. 34% of them are quite inteeres
