MethodsWith water as extraction solvent, the contents of berberine hydrochloride determined by HPLC as the index, the effects of volume of extraction solvent, time of refluxing and extraction times were investigated and the L9 (34) orthogonal experiment was adopted to optimize the process.ResultsThe optimum extraction process was achieved with addition of water as extraction solvent (8 times raw herb in volume) into materials, refluxing 1.5hours and extracting for 2 times. The contents of berberine hydrochloride was 6.5499%. ConclusionThe optimum extraction process for berberine hydrochloride is scientific, cost is comparatively low, the contents of berberine hydrochloride is high.
