UDK619:615.099.092 CYTOGENETICCHANGESINBONEMARROWANDFIBROBLASTCELLSOFBALB/C LABORATORYMICEINDUCEDBYMESTRANOL TEODOROVI]RADISLAVA FacultyofVeterinaryMedicine,Belgrade (Received27.January2004) InthisworkthegenotoxiceffectsprovokedbyMestranol,which belongstothegroupofchemicalrodenticide-chemosterilants,were examinedasa functionofdose(7,5,15and30mg/kgw.b./c.c.)andof time(10,20and30daysor3,5and7daysfor invivoandinvitro conditions, respectively). The genotoxic effects were scored on the basisofnumericalandstructuralaberrationsinbothbonemarrowand fibroblastcellsfromBALB/Claboratorymiceincomparisontocontrol groups. Increased doses of the preparation increased numerical aberrations in both bone marrow and fibroblast cells significantly (p0.01)sothatthegreatestchangeswerenoticedafterthetreatment with30mg/kgw.b./c.c.Numericalaberrationsshowednosignificant differences (p0.05) as a function of time. Also, the several times greaternumberofaneuploidcellsswassignificantlydifferent(p0.01) comparedtothenumberofpolyploidcells Greatervaluesforstructuralaberrationswereobtainednotonly afterthe treatmentwiththelargestdoseof30mg/kgw.b./c.c.,butalso after longer exposure times (i.e. for 30 or 5 days respectively). Statisticallysignificantdifferenceswerefoundbetweenthenumberof gaps, as well as fragments, in comparasion to the number of Robertsoniantranslocations(p0.01),whiletherewerenosignificant differencesbetweenthenumberofgapsandfragments (p0.05).
