The GSTP1 ILe105Val polymorphism wasdeterminedusingPCR-RFLP.Results.GSTM1nullgenotypewassigni?cantlyassociatedwiththeincreasedriskofasthma (P = .002).AsthmaticchildrenhadahigherprevalenceoftheGSTP1Ile105allelethanthecontrolgroup(43.8%and33.5%, respectively;P = .002).Also,thepresenceoftheGSTP1homozygoteVal/Valwaslesscommoninsubjectswithasthmathanin controlgroup.WehavefoundthatGSTT1nullgenotype(GSTT1 0/ 0)wassigni?cantlyassociatedwithatopy(P=.008).Con- ? ? clusion.PolymorphismswithingenesoftheGSTsuperfamilywereassociatedwithriskofasthmaandatopyinTunisia.
