Adiponectinlevelswerehigher,hs-CRPandIL-1RalevelslowerinsubjectswithoutMetScomparedtosubjectswithMetS.IfMetS waspresentaccordingtobothIDFandNCEPcriteria,BMI,waist,triglycerides,hs-CRP,andIL-1Raweresigni?cantlyhigher comparedtosubjectswhohadMetSaccordingtoeitheronlyIDForonlyNCEPcriteria.Thehs-CRP,IL-1Ra,andadiponectin linearlycorrelatedwiththenumberofthecomponentsofMetSaccordingtobothde?nitions.Decreasedlevelsofadiponectinand increasedlevelsofhs-CRPandIL-1RaaretightlyassociatedwiththecomponentsofMetS.IndividualswhohadMetSaccording tobothcriteriahadthemostadversechangesincardiovascularriskfactors.
