Mobile Agent (MA) technology has been recently proposed in Wireless Sensors Networks (WSNs) literature to answer the scalabilityproblemofclient/servermodelindatafusionapplications.HereinwepresentCBID,anovelalgorithmthatcalculates near-optimalroutesforMAsthatincrementallyfusethedataastheyvisittheSensorNodes(SNs)whilealsoenablingfastupdates onthedesigneditinerariesuponchangesofnetworktopology.CBIDdispatchesinparallelanumberofMAsthatsequentiallyvisit sensornodesarrangedintreestructuresanduponvisitinganSNwithtwoormorechildSNs,theMAs(masterMAs)cloneof themselveswitheachclone(slaveMA)visitingatreebranch.WhenallslaveMAsreturntothatSN,theydelivertheircollecteddata tothemasterMAandarethendisposedof.Thisresultsinasigni?cantreductionoftheoverallenergyexpenditureandresponse time.Simulationresultsprovethehighe?ectivenessofCBIDindatafusiontaskscomparedtootheralternativealgorithms. 1.Introduction WSNs can be used in security sensitive applications (e.g., secureareamonitoringandtargetdetection[1])theabove- men
