Here, wepresenta thoroughqualitativeandquantitativeanalysisofnematocystsinNematostellavectensis.Inaddition,wehaveclonedmajor nematocystcomponents,Nematostellaminicollagens1,3and4,andshowtheirexpressionpatternsbyinsituhybridization andimmunocytochemistryusingspecificantibodies.Ourdataprovidestoolsandinsightsforfurtherstudiesonnematocyst morphogenesisinNematostellaandcomparativeevolutionincnidarians.
