An optimizationapproachisthenproposedto?tthemodeltorealinputSRPdataandestimate thepositionoftheacousticsource. Adequately?ttingthemodeltorealSRPdata, where noiseandotherunmodelledeffectsdistorttheidealsignal, isthecorecontributionofthe paper. Twobasicstrategiesintheoptimizationareproposed.First,sparseconstraintsinthe parametersofthemodelareincluded,enforcingthenumberofsimultaneousactivesources tobelimited.Second,subspaceanalysisisusedto?lteroutportionsoftheinputsignalthat cannotbeexplainedbythemodel.Experimentalresultsonarealisticspeechdatabaseshow statisticallysigni?cantlocalizationerrorreductionsofupto30%whencomparedwiththe SRP-PHATstrategies.
