Abstract Since China entered World Trade Organization, foreign agriculture environmental standard has stifled the exportation of Chinese agricultural produce frequently. The main countries that brought trade barrier into effect to the Chinese agricultural produce are European Union. By establishing a series of rigid environmental protection standards and forceful technical rules, EU’s prevented foreign commodities from entering the domestic market on the ground of environmental conservation and food safety issues, with trading obstacle named Environmental Standard, usually characterized by techniques, shadiness, flexibilities and disputes. According to the characters of the exported agricultural products, EU’s agriculture environmental standard has seriously affected the export of the agricultural products, especially vegetables of horticultural products, fruit, tea, aquatic products and livestock products, which should own comparative advantage. The study is introducing the formation of EU’s agriculture environmental standard, including directives 、technology standards 、green packaging system and quarantine system, meanwhile, analyzing their characteristics. From both aspects of importer and exporter, the study is analyzing EU’s Agriculture Environmental Standard’s effect on farm trade. But this kind of effect was not always negative. The most pivotal part of this study is an empirical analysis, which is using gravity model to analyze this kind of impact on aquatic produce, according to the change of EU’s Chloramphenicol maximum residue limits standard, citing frozen shrimp which HS number isin Chinese Custom Immigration Quarantine Statistical Annals, from 1995 to 2004.
