The violinists virtuosity has amazed audiences all over the world. astonish 指因为不可解释或理解的事而感到惊异。 Eg. I was astonished to see Peter there. surprise 指由于意外而感到突然,程度不如amaze强。 Eg. We were surprised that he lost the exam. shock 语气最强,意味“震惊”,含有对情感造成触动的意味。 Eg. I was shocked at her drinking alcohol. audience n. 听众,观众 辨析 audience 词根为audi,侧重“听”,指“听”的人,通常指出席诸如音乐会、演讲会等的“听众,观众” Eg. There were a large audience in the theatre. spectator 词根为spect, 侧重“观”,指“看”的人,如观看体育比赛、展览等的人。Eg. Worry and suffering had made her look older than others. care 强调因出于责任感关心,照料。Eg. He was free from all care.
