AbstractTheoutputandconsumptionofcoalinChinaarethestrongestalloverworld.Inrecentyears,coalconsumptionhasbeengrowingwiththerapideconomicdevelopment,sotheemissionofSO2hasbeenincreasing,whichthreatenstheenvironmentandhumanhealth.Atthesametime,thesulfurresourcesareshortageinChina,soitisnecessarytoremoveSO2fromfluegasesandsaveit.OurresearchgrouphaspaidgreatattentiontotheEthyleneGlycol(EG)systemtoremoveSO2forseveralyears.Inthiswork,N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF)wasaddedintoEGtoimprovetheabsorptioncapacityofSO2whichcanreducetheenergyrequirementsforSO2absorptionprocesses.Theisothermalgasliquidequilibrium(GLE)dataofdiluteSO2inDMF+EGmixturesweredeterminedasafunctionofcompositionatT=308.15Kandp=122.66kPa.TheresultsindicatethatthesolubilityofSO2increaseswiththeincreasingDMFconcentrationandtheabsorptionofdiluteSO2inDMF+EGmixturesobeyHenry’slawatlowpressure.Meanwhile,thedensitiesandviscositiesforthebinarymixturesofDMF+EGweremeasuredoverthewholeconcentrationrangeatT=(298.15,303.15,308.15,313.15and318.15)K.Theexperimentalresultswerecomparedwithreporteddatainliteratures.Fromtheexperimentaldensityandviscositydata,theEEexcessmolarvolumes(Vm)werecalculated,andthevaluesofVmareshowntobenegativeatallexperimentaltemperaturesandcompositions.Fromtheviscositydata,viscositydeviations(Δν),Gibbsenergiesofactivationofviscousflow(ΔG*),enthalpyofactivationforviscousflow(ΔH*)andentropyofactivationfortheviscousflow(ΔS*)werealsocalculated.TheinteractionmechanismofSO2withEG+DMGwasmainlystudiedbymodernspectroscopictechnologiessuchasUV-vis,FTIR,and1H-NMR.Theresultsshowthatinteractionbetweenunlikemoleculestakesplacebyhydrogenbondas-C=O···H-O-,andthesulfuratomofSO2caninteractwithcarbonyloxygenatomofDMF.Aminelossisaseriousprobleminaminedesulfurization.Inthiswork,wepresentdatafortheuseofmagnesiumtetraphenylporphyrin(MgTPP)asanamine-fixingagentforSO2capture.TheaminesinitiallyformadductswithMgTPP.WhenSO2isintroduced,itcompeteswithMgTPPfortheamines,whicheventuallyleadstothereleaseofMgTPP.Theaminescanformadductswith
