master the aesthetic elements of the source text. Successfully representing the aesthetic value of the source text is the most important reason that readers praise Zhang Peiji’s translated prose. His particular aesthetic perspective, the pursuit of perfect translation criteria, and high awareness of Chinese culture are all worth learning for the following translators. This thesis attempts to summarize his particular aesthetic perspective, that is, the target text is both faithful to the content and faithful to the style, at the same time, smooth in accordance with the standard and code of the target language. Meanwhile, though a variety of comparison studies, this thesis also attempts to conclude his application and expansion of aesthetic principles, that is, with discourse consciousness in his mind, Zhang Peiji comprehensively balances each aesthetic factors, emphasizes the harmony and consistence between the inner rhythm and the whole style of the text, and adopts foreignization method with notes to spread Chinese culture on the basis of not affecting the understanding and transmission of beauty.Key Words: translation aesthetics, modern Chinese prose, Zhang Peiji, prose translation, culture spreading摘要以短小精炼著称的散文是与小说、诗歌、戏剧并列的文学体裁之一。“五四运动”之后，中国作家所创作的散文作品被称作“中国现代散文”。这一时期，朱自清、郁达夫、老舍、冰心等优秀的散文作家创作出了许多耐人寻味的散文作品。但是，一直以来散文并没有受到足够的重视，相关的学者和译者对散文翻译缺乏深入的研究，导致很多优秀的作品没能走出国门。直到近几年，散文及其翻译才逐渐地被世人所重视。在为人瞩目的散文翻译界中，张培基是一位罕见的把毕生精力都奉献给了散文翻译事业的学者。正是由于他的不懈追求和对中国文化的高度关注，才使得这些优秀的散文作品为全世界的英语读者所共享。散文翻译属于文学翻译范畴。而文学翻译就需要考虑众多的美学要素，一旦处理不好，翻译就将失去意义。翻译美学是对文学翻译最具价值也是与之联系最紧密的理论之一。从翻译美学的角度研究散文翻译有助于在翻译过程中把握作品的美学要素，具备实际的研究意义。张培基的散文翻译作品之所以被广大读者所称颂正是由于成功地再现了原作的美感。他独特的美学视角、对翻译标准的完美追求、以及对中国文化的高度关注都是值得后来译者借鉴和学习的。本文力求通过大量的对比研究，归纳总结出张培基独特的审美视角，即既要忠实于原文内容又要忠实于原文风格，同时还要满足目标语的语言标准和习惯，以及他对翻译美学原则的实践与突破，即受语篇意识的驱使综合权衡各个美学要素、强调内在节奏和整体风格之间的和谐一致，在不影响理解与美的传播的前提下采用异化加注释的手法弘扬中国文化。关键词：翻译美学；中国现代散文；张培基；散文翻译；文化传播ContentsAcknowledgements…………………………………………………………………..i Abstract in English………………………………………………………………
