Vagueness, ambiguity, and imprecision is to be avoided so as to maintain smooth and successful communication. However, a great number of vague expressions exist here and there in our everyday communication. It is very common for people to use vague language with the expectation of realizing different communicative intentions.In 1965, L.A. Zadeh, a professor at the University of California, initially proposed the famous Fuzzy Set Theory in his article “Fuzzy Sets” in Information and Control. Since then, the Fuzzy Theory has been widely applied to a variety of disciplines such as mathematics, psychology, philosophy, logic, etc. This theory also triggered the interest of linguists Wittgenstein believes that fuzzy language plays an important role in human communication. Our communication would be bound to break down without the help of fuzzy language. He claims that on many occasions, our communication needs fuzzy expressions. This may sound somewhat bizarre, but suppose that we could, through some commonly accepted limitations, do away with all sorts of fuzzy language, we could find our means of communication so pale and its role in communication and expression limited to such a degree that our interchange is paralyzed.
