By narrating and analyzing the life events since her undergraduate social-work education, this thesis discusses the relationship of the professional beliefs and personal beliefs, the relationship between faith and practice, as well as the topic of how to deal with burnout for the individual workers in the social work practice contexts of mainland China. On account of the life experience of interviewee L, this thesis try to explore how she becomes a life practicer of beliefs and its significance to transcend the external unfavorable factors and the internal negative emotions and stick to the values, beliefs as well as practice of social workers. In this thesis, the main view is that social workers need to see themselves as a person who has body, soul and spirit and understand themselves in a holistic way, meanwhile, social workers should try to establish and adhere to the beliefs that they are believing and willing to practice no matter within the working field or the ordinary daily life.By the awareness of their holistic self and a firm insistence of beliefs within or beyond the working field, from a professional practice to a life practice, social workers can get beyond the adverse external environment and internal negative emotions, and by using the self as one of the most valuable resource into the practical work, social workers can truly ,effectively affect the clients under the social-work values. This thesis is divided into five parts which are (a) Introduction, (b) career choice and burnout, (c) reflection in the transformation, (d) becoming a life-practicer of beliefs and (v)enlightenment.
