西华大 西华大学硕士学位论文 《论语 《论语》中文化符号“仁”“礼”异域传播的模因论阐释 摘 要 《论语》是记录孔子思想的经典之作，是中华民族传统文化的精髓。《论语》中体 现的儒学思想对中华民族和世界文化都产生了积极的影响。自利玛窦首次将《论语》翻 译成拉丁文起，四百年来，《论语》的翻译和英译研究从未中断。目前《论语》英译研 究主要集中微观方面，如核心概念，翻译策略以及译本之间语言层面上的对比。模因论 是基于达尔文文化进化论的观点，解释文化进化规律的新理论。自从二十世纪七十年代 末道金斯（1976）首次提出模因概念以来，该理论被广泛应用于解释文化传播现象。目 前随着中国经典文化的英译西传，不少学者开始以模因论为理论框架，从文化进化的视 角研究中国文化经典的英译和传播。然而鲜有学者从模因论的视角,结合符号学理论对 《论语》中文化符号“仁”和“礼”的英译做相关研究。 本论文以模因论为主体理论框架，结合符号学的相关理论，以理雅格译本为研究范 本，分析了《论语》中文化符号“仁”“礼”的异域传播。论文采用定性分析的研究方 法，结合符号模因异域传播图式，分析了文化符号“仁”“礼”异域传播的四个阶段， 并详细论证了再符号化模因“virtue”“propriety”被西方读者接收的深层文化原因。 本论文以模因整个传播过程为主线，通过分析文化符号 “仁”“礼”的异域传播过程， 得出如下结论：（1）再符号化过程贯穿于模因传播的整个过程。模因在传播过程中为 适应新的传播环境，需要不断地调整其外在形式和内涵外延，即不断地进行再符号化。 从模因论的视角看，译文的实质是源域模因再符号化后的变体；（2）模因的两大特性， 即情感共鸣性和文化顺应性有助于模因的异域传播。文化符号“仁”“礼”在西方世界 快速传播是因为其再符号化变体“virtue”“propriety”具备情感共鸣性和文化顺应 性两大特性。 本论文从模因论的视角，分析文化符号“仁”和“礼”异域传播机制，一方面从文 化进化的角度开拓了文化符号异域传播研究的新视域，并指出了译文是源域模因再符号 化的实质；另一方面《论语》中文化符号的异域传播经验，为中国其他文化典籍的异域 传播提供了参考。 关键词：模因论；再符号化；文化符号；仁；礼 I PAGE PAGE IV Abstract The Analects embodies the ideas of Confucius and the essence of traditional Chinese culture. Confucianism embodied in The Analects has a positive effect on the Chinese and world culture over two thousand years. The translation and study of The Analects have been conducted continuously since Matteo Ricci translated The Analects into Latin in 1593. The previous researches into the English translation of The Analects are mainly on the micro-level, for instance, about the core words, the structure of the sentences, the translating strategies and the comparison between two or more versions. Memetics is a relatively new theory to explain the laws of cultural evolution based on Darwins theory of evolution. Since the concept of meme was firstly proposed by Richard Dawkins(1976), the memetic theory has been widely used to explain the phenomenon of cultural transmission.
