Although the level of Chinas food security is relatively high, because of the impact of population growth and the growth of rigid demand of food, the gap between food supply and demand is widening, especially the structural demand gap continues to expand, coupled with the production factors for food are concentrating in cities, food reserves problems and food circulation problems are still exist, food security in China is facing great pressure. At the same time, urbanization is also moving forward, and is promoting the economic development, it has achieved remarkable development achievements, but it also brings a number of economic issues and social issues, the scarcity of resources and production factors is becoming more obvious. This article start the theoretical analysis from the relationship between urbanization and food security. The process of urbanization affects food security from two aspects, food demand and food supply. The growth of the level of urbanization will reduce the number of rations on demand, but it will have more demand in ration structure; the growth in feed grain and industrial use of grain demand is significantly, and it will be an important reason for Chinas growth in demand for food in the future; in grain reserves, the increase in the urban population will increase grain demand in food reserves. Urbanization also has an impact on food supply, the cities attract more high-quality labor force from rural areas, and left behind more low-quality labor force in rural areas. The area of arable land and the quality of cultivated land constraints the increase of food production; but development in urban economic provides more resources to imports food from foreign countries, to ease pressure of domestic resources and environment; urbanization and industrialization
