PAGE PAGE 1 Introduction Ezra Pound is regarded nowadays as one of the founders and advocates of the Imagiste Movement and Modernist Poems in the European and American literary world. San Juan Jr. once claimed that the Modernist English poems are, in a sense, the creation of Ezra Pound, which has become the common sense in the western world. Pound leads the Modernist trend over its climax period beginning in 1912 and ending in 1922 and is the mentor of a great number of well-known modernist and post-modernist English poets. His works, compared with those of other prestigious poets in the first half of the 20th century, are characterized with combination of modern English literature and other cultures. Therefore, it’s fairly easy to find that Pound’s poems are the crossing point of various languages and cultures.
