Abstract The free spray simulation method is one of the best solutions of validating the matching between the air inlet and the firebox of the hypersonic ramjet engine. Therefore, the free spray run-up area of the hypersonic ramjet engine is the pivotal apparatus to advance the research of the hypersonic ramjet engine. This paper introduces the apparatus makeup and the component structure of the free spray run-up area and describes the basic principles and working flow of the main-air-way pressure setting system, the oil supplying system and the ejector pressure setting system. The equal-part oil and air control in the main-air-way pressure setting system and the oil supplying system are narrated specially in details. This paper also provides the fuzzy control rules for the ejector pressure setting system. In this paper, firstly, the selection means and function of components are introduced, based on the whole structure of the main-air-way pressure setting system. Secondly, the features of the oil supplying system are analyzed. Then, in the control of the main-air-way pressure setting system and the oil supplying system, the valve aperture of the equal-part oil and air control and the auto- control rules of air-way pressures is given according to the control theory of the heater with/without supplying oxygen in the oil supplying system. The Matlab programs for computing the equal-part oil and air are developed, which are satisfied the demands of the run-up area. According to the results of the program, the control module (I) and the control module (II) for heater before/after supplying oxygen supplying oxygen are established in the control unit of the run- up area, which realize the auto control of the oil supplying, following the total pressure of the adaptor all the time.
