Abstract
The development of interdisciplinarity demonstrates a good momentum and great potential. According to statistics, half of the separate disciplines, which are nearly ten thousand, are interdisciplinary. At present, about 2,600 subjects belong to quite mature interdisciplines, accounting for almost 46.8% of the total subjects. Scientific community increasingly views interdisciplinary research as critical to innovation and scientific advance and as a means to respond to emerging complex problem. Many academic institutions and federal funding agencies have made efforts to promote interdisciplinary education and research. National Scientific Foundation of China (NSFC), for an example, has put the support for interdisciplinary research in significant position.
Therefore, evaluations are needed for improving the performance and quality of research activities and guarantee the credibility of research. However, there are still many challenges in assessing the interdisciplinary research, especially in how to identify the interdisciplinary applications, how to make the process of review more scientific and reasonable. The initial theory applied to evaluate the mono-disciplinary research is unable to assess the interdisciplinary research. Three aspects research work have been done, in this paper, to solve the questions we mentioned.
First, this paper has research the deciding method for interdisciplinary applications. Through analyzing the definition and management of the interdisciplinary applications in foreign countries, we proposed the feature description model for interdisciplinary applications, which descript the internal and external feature of the interdisciplinary. In addition, based on this model, we analyzed the real application

of the NSFC.
Second, this paper has research how to choose peer reviewers for interdisciplinary applications. The method, used currently, has some shortcomings. Therefore, we proposed the new
