Methods The literature retrieval and comparative analysis were employed to generalize and compare the LTCI of the above-mentioned countries in terms of constructive background, operating institution, coverage, financing scope and payment. Results Compared with international experience, China failed to accurately grasp the national conditions in pilot areas, and there were defects such as indefinite operating institutions, inconsistent coverage, imperfect financing channels, and single payment. Conclusion The pilot areas should set up specialized institutions of LTCI, increase the coverage of the elderly groups, promote fair financing with yardstick of income, and particularize the payment contents to facilitate cash payments.
