Aims:
Improve the students’ reading ability, master the skills of reading.
Revise the words of jobs and feelings, revise the Simple Present Tense of the third person.
Understand the meaning of the story and can read the story fluently.
Main points and the difficulties:
Main points:The students can understand the meaning of the story and read it fluently. Mater the three elements of the story.
Difficulties:
( 1 )How to master the skills in reading and doing exercises.
( 2 )The usage of the Simple Present Tense of the third person. .
Teaching methods:
PPT, cards, stickers
Teaching steps:
Step 1:Greeting
Step2: Revision
Have a free talk about jobs, hobbies, and feelings. The teacher can have a dialogue with the students like following.
T: Today I am your new teacher. I am happy today. May I know your name , boy/girl?
S: My name is…
T: How do you feel today?
S: I am/feel…
T: What are your hobbies?
S: I like…
T: What does your father do?
S: He is a/an…
Step3:Pre-reading
Know something about the new teacher.
T: Do you want to know something about me? You can ask me questions? Who can try?
Let the students ask me some questions. Eg: What’s your name? What do you do? How do you feel? What’s Ms Liu like? What are your hobbies? And so on.
By this way deal with some new words of the story. eg: honest, rich, poor
At the same time lead in the new lesson.
Step4:While-reading
1. Listen to the story and choose the title for the story.

A. A rich old businessman
B. A poor fisherman
C. To be an honest(诚实的) man
2 . Fast reading
Give the students 4 minutes to read the story quickly, then do the exercises of P68.
Read and do the exercises:
( 1 ) How does the fisherman feel after three months?
( 2 ) How does he feel at the end? Why?
( 3 ) What does the story tell us? Tick what you agree with.
