What is in the picture? (2). What is he doing? 10 Step 2 Reading 1. Students read the passage, find out the main idea of it and check their predictions. 2. Students read the passage again and find the answers of these two questions: (1) Why did the little boy hammer the nails into the fence? (2) What did his father do when the boy learnt to control his temper? 3. Students read the passage again and think about the following questions: (1) What aspect of self-management is the passage about? (2) What message do you think the story conveys? (3) Do you have the similar experience? What did you do? 7 Step 3 Pre-writing 1. Teacher encourages Students to make notes about the story in Activity 5. 2. Students talk about the elements of a reflection. 14 Step 4 Writing 1. Teacher asks Students to write a reflection of the story. 2. Teacher shows the criteria about how to assess a reflection. 3. Students write a reflection. 3 Step 5 Assessment Teacher presents students’ draft to the whole class and guides other students to do peer-assessment. 6 Step 6 Revision Teacher guides Students to learn how to revise writing. 1
