Learning objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
have a basic understanding about many kinds of music forms.
use some basic reading skills in their daily study.
find out the differences and similarities of the most bands and the Monkees.
4. inspire their interest to the music and realize the importance of the music.

Analyze how the Monkees became a successful band.

Master the different stages of the most bands and the Monkees.

Guess which music matches which picture.
List some famous bands
Know about the Monkees
Predict the article.
Get ss to know about some different kinds of music and have a basic understanding about the Monkees.
First reading
(6 mins)
To find out the main idea of the whole passage.
Get ss to get hold of the main idea first.
Second reading
(4 mins)
Read again to master the main idea of each paragraph and and find out the main structure of the article.
Get ss to train some basic reading skills and learn to find out how to get the main idea in a very shot time.
Third reading
(20mins)
Read to know about more detailed information about this passage.
Why does the author ask questions?
How do most people band?
How was the Monkees formed?
Why did the Monkees become popular
The stages of the Monkees.
Understanding about the title-the band that wasn’t
let ss analyze the structure of this passage and pay attention to some detailed information.
Encourage students to tell the main points in a brief way.
Lead ss to find out the differences and similarities about the most bands and the Monkees in different stages.

Discuss in small groups:
Choose some words to describe the Monkees.
What is the most important thing for a successful band? Why?
