Module 11 Body language
Unit 2 Here are some ways to welcome them.
I.【Teaching objectives】
Knowledge aims:
1. To master the key vocabulary and structures.
2. Enable students to understand the passage about body language around the world.
3. To be able to understand imperative sentences.
Process and method aims:
Master the structure of the passage and use it in their writing.
To be able to use correct body language when meeting foreigners.
Emotion-attitude-value:
Realize the differences in body language in different countries and learn to respect them.
Cultivate the cross cultural value literacy.
II. Analysis of the students
Students in Grade Seven like the intuitive thinking in pictures, games and are interested in drawing particularly. According to the current status of the students, teacher should try to encourage students to speak English, especially in creating opportunities for the poor students, let them try to fell the joy. Moreover, this topic is closely related to the daily life, so the teacher had better create a lively atmosphere of English.
III. Key points and difficult points
1. Master some words and expressions about welcoming:
Key vocabulary: finger, foot, knee, leg, mouth, body, foreign, arm, arm in arm, not at all, polite, hold, South American, Britain, rude, North American, personal.
Key structures: Don’t stand close ti North Americans!
Give them more personal space.
Be careful!
2. Understand body language from different countries and the expressions about them.
3. The positive and negative forms of imperative sentences.
IV. Teaching steps
Step one: Warming- up
Game: Body squats
There are five pictures: finger, arm, foot, leg, mouth. Each student represents a body part. For example, when “finger” is mentioned, he or she will squats and say : “Finger squats, finger squats, after that, arm squats”. If there is something wrong, the student will be out.
