Teaching procedures
Step1. Leading in
Introduce the definition of the emphatic sentence
Step2. Explanation
Explain how to use the structure and the notes.
(1) When emphasizing adverbials of time, place, reason or manner, use that instead of when, where, why or how.
(2) In general, the emphasis sentence only uses that, but when the person is emphasized and is the subject, who can replace that; when the person is emphasized and is the object, whom can also replace that / who.
(3) If the emphasis is on the subject, the person and number of the predicate after that or who should be consistent with the stressed subject.
(4) It cant be replaced by other pronouns; the form of is / was number is not affected by the singular and plural of the stressed part.
(5) When using this pattern, we should pay attention to negative transfer
(6) The tense of the stressed sentence pattern should be determined according to the tense of the original sentence, that is, the original sentence is a past tense, and the stressed sentence uses was; the original sentence is a present or future tense, and the stressed sentence uses is.
