In the 21st century, with the rapid development of our society, and the integration of world economies, and china’s entry into WTO in particular, our Chinese people have come to view English language teaching as highly significant in the promotion of cooperation and development, and the maintenance of world peace. In fact, English language education in China has never been so strongly emphasized. English training centers and English schools are springing up throughout China. More and more people realize study English well and speak English fluently and correctly is no longer just an alternative choice, but an essential skill of living in the future.? ? B. The Importance of Oral English ???? After 20 years of Opening-up, we connected with the other countries more closely than before. As English has become an international language, it is necessary for our Chinese people to study especially speak English well. Because the ultimate goal of language teaching is to improve the students’ language ability to communicate in English effectively. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing play important aspects in communication.? ???? However, there are still some serious problems we can not ignore, the worst one is that after several years of English learning, the students might have memorized thousands of English words, recited lots of articles, learnt much grammar and even got high marks in English examinations, yet they remain at a loss when they meet English native speakers. The students’ oral language competence can’t keep the closest pace with the rapid development of our modern society, and can’t meet the requirement and objectives in the National English Syllabus?.We feel sad about our time-consuming and inefficient English teaching.
