Open and Distance Education Cost-effectiveness studies of the status quo and thinking
【Summary】 related to cost-effectiveness of Open and Distance Education Early studies have shown that distance education is more cost-effective than face to face education. The cost of distance education depends primarily on two areas: number of pupils enrolled; curriculum development and delivery of the fixed costs. However, the analysis of cost-effectiveness of online education can be quite a lack of empirical research. This paper describes some of the early cost-effectiveness of Open and Distance Education on the findings; and then describe the recent cost-effectiveness of online education research; Finally, the article discusses the key themes in Open and Distance Education, and areas for future research put forward constructive proposals
To date, many studies have explored the Open and Distance Education in different environments using technology to pass the time of cost-effectiveness, these studies are mainly on the Open and Distance Education in relation to the traditional face to face education, economic and educational benefits. In addition, more recent studies have analyzed the impact of cost-effectiveness of Open and Distance Education of the various factors. However, based on empirical data to explore this new phenomenon of online education research is still quite lacking. This article first reviews the cost-effectiveness of Open and Distance Education of the earlier studies, and analysis of online education cost-effectiveness of a number of recent surveys. In addition, the article also discusses the cost-effectiveness of distance education, an important theme, and pointed out that future studies need to explore a number of areas.
