The phase tuning capabilities of this con?gu- ration have been already demonstrated by the authors in [9].Whencomparedwiththeexistingsolutions,theadopted con?gurationo?ersauniformre?ectingsurface,duetothe fact that the tunable element and the biasing circuitries are located on the opposite side below the ground plane. Furthermore, as demonstrated in [9], an optimum phase tuningrangeofabout320degreesisobtainedbyintegrating asinglediodetoeachradiatingelement. Theproposedcon?gurationisproperlysynthesizedfor the design of an X-band re?ectarray with beam-scanning capabilities.Aprintedelectroniccircuitisintegratedtothe antennainordertoactivelycontrolthebiasvoltagesacross thediodes.Theradiationpatternmeasurementsofthere?ec- tarrayprototypeshowtheabilitytoelectronicallyscanthe mainbeamalongsomeprescribeddirections.
