SalvianolicacidA(SAA),oneofthemajoractivecomponentsofDanshenthatisatraditionalChinesemedicine,hasbeenreported topossessprotectivee?ectincardiacdiseasesandantioxidativeactivity.Thisstudyaimstoinvestigatethecardioprotectionof SAA in vivo and in vitro using the model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion in rat and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced H9c2ratcardiomyoblastsapoptosis.ItwasfoundthatSAAsigni?cantlylimitedinfarctsizeofischemicmyocardiumwhengiven immediatelyprior toreperfusion.SAAalsosigni?cantlysuppressedcellular injury andapoptotic celldeath.
