Methods:P.notoginsengseedswerecollectedandstoredinwetsand.Aftergermination,theseedlingswere transplantedintoasoilnurserybedandcultivatedforoneyear.Duringthisperiod,sampleswerecollectedevery monthandtheconcentrationsofginsengnosidesRg1,Re,Rb1,RdandnotoginsengnosideR1weredeterminedby HPLC. Results:TherewaslittlesaponinintheP.notoginsengseed.Thechemicalcompositionofseedwasdifferentfrom thatofroot.Aftergermination,Rb1,Rg1,Re,RdandR1appearedsuccessivelyintheseedlingroot.Andinthefive- month-oldroot,allthesefivemainsaponinscameintoexistence.TheaccumulationofsaponinsinP.notoginseng rootwasaffectedbyseasons. Conclusion:Theaccumulationofsaponinsshowedatime-dependentincreaseaftergerminationofP.notoginseng.
