On the reform of geography education
Geography education is a top priority. It is not only issues related to the development of geography, more importantly, improve the quality of the people related to the problem. In a sense, secondary school geography education is more important than the university, because it affects people’s life. High school education is shaping the candidates from the obscure to the shape of the stage, which is particularly important. On a personal note, I graduated from high school in Suzhou in 1936, when the test did not go to a popular engineering and business studies, but chose the little known science of geography. This is my high school education is closely related to the guidance of a teacher of geography.
Comrade Deng Xiaoping proposed the education of “three for” instruction, and geographic education, a more direct relationship, which is under the situation of reform and opening up the specific requirements of geography education. Require students to understand the natural world, recognizing both the human world, and through two of the world’s understanding, and further understand the human activities and the close relationship between geographical environment and establish harmonious development of man-land ideas, consciously protect the resources and the environment; and then set the global one thought, to better understand and maintain world peace. This is the secondary school geography education to achieve goals.
For the secondary school geography education, I would talk about the personal views. I feel that school geography education should be emphasized and clarified four perspectives:
1. Regional differences in perspectives. Chinese geographical differences significant. Geography basically talk about a clear geographical differences.
