Abstract With the development of society，in the design of square ,in aorder to meet the needs of modern people to pay more attention to the diversity and constuct the interpersonal communication space，at the same time，more or less, different kinds of characteristic design of square played a certain role for the region of cultural，but because there are many overlooked the use of mainland element in the feature square design，can not meet the characteristics of square design.first of all ,This article put forward the issues that lack of mainland element in the design of square，and then , take Manau Shadung for the case and analyzed it，not only advance the value of the mainland element，and then , through the analyzed of the Manau Shadung which is an original form of square,from its decorative features, dimensional form and the meaning behind the symbol and other aspects，then present its inspiration for the feature square design，and ultimately, to find a feasible way for modern design of public space and have a great significance for communicate and development of the region of cultural ,and to meet the feature square design and the desire of manifold element .
