During this time， ideological and political education brought order out of chaos and its new development started. In accordance with the ideological line of seeking truth from facts， Southwest Jiaotong University restored the fine tradition for ideological and political work. The University applied a variety of educational methods and carried out all kinds of activities to educate young students to uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China， to study MarxismLeninism and Mao Zedong thought， to persist in the belief of communist ideal as well as the revolutionary tradition， and put the tenet of serving the people into practice. In the meantime， the ideological and political education implemented by the University achieved the goal of bringing order out of chaos by adhering to the target orientation of ideological and political education and solving ideological and practical problems pertinently.
