万方数据 万方数据 Abstract Abstract Chinese automotive industry has been developing rapidly in recent years. Being the biggest consumer market of cars for many years, China also faces huge challenges. Chinese OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are just followers rather than leaders in international market for now. Economic globalization brings many opportunities for Chinese automotive industry, which allows us to learn from internationally competitive companies through cooperation and competition. This report is based on the translation of Electric Vehicle Batteries, Sowing the Seeds of an Energy Revolution, a technical research report done by UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) in Europe. The report includes description of the source text, summary of the translation process and conclusion of the translation activity. In the hope of applying the translation theories, skills and strategies to practice, the author summarizes the problems of translation process so as to improve her translation ability. The report mainly consists of four parts: Part 1 is a general introduction to the source text; Part 2 describes the process of translation, such as preparation phase, selection of tools, definition of technical terms, initial translation and proofreading; Part 3 describes the case study. The author analyzes some selected examples from the perspectives of lexical level and syntax level. The author focuses on translation strategies of conversion, amplification and splitting of long sentences; Part 4 summarizes some problems and experience of the translation.
