万方数据 万方数据 Abstract Abstract The source text of the translation report is excerpted from Aging and the Macroeconomy: Long-Term Implications of an Older Population, which provides a detailed overview of the aging trend of the United States, and a meticulous analysis of the aging population’s implications on macroeconomy. Based on the translation of the Outlook for Fiscal Policy, the author described the whole process of this translation practice, and analyzed the encountered problems and their corresponding solutions. The report consists of four parts, description of translation task, translating process, case analysis and conclusion. Part One, the description, gives an outline of the corresponding information about the source text, the writer and the work; Part Two, the process, is about the reading and studying of the source text, the selection of translation strategies as well as dictionaries and other translation tools, and the check and polishing of the translated text; Part Three, the case analysis, which is the main body of the report, includes lexical and syntactical analysis as well as discourse points. The lexical part discusses the conversion of the word classes and the translation of the terminology. The syntactical part gives a detailed analysis of the translation of difficult sentences, attributive sentence, passive sentence and the parenthesis. The discourse part analyzes the text cohesion; Part Four, the conclusion part, summarizes what the translator experiences and learns through the whole translating practice.
