As people?s living standard has been greatly improved, living environment and energy conservation attract more and more attentions. Besides, residential ventilation and leakage are concerned with the living comfort and safety of the residents. Therefore, translation of the text is of some practical significance for practitioners in the HVAC field. This report analyzes the translation of the selected text based on Newmark?s translation theories. According to Newmark?s text categories, the source text belongs to the informative text, which should apply communicative translation (2001a). Besides, Newmark (2001b) pointed out that communicative translation was apt to render the exact contextual meaning of the original in such a way that both content and language are readily acceptable and comprehensible to the readership. Therefore, based on communicative translation, the report indicates that a TT should be loyal to the ST contents, and meanwhile consistent with the TL conventions, for the purpose of achieving equivalent effects among the TT readers as that among the ST readers.
