Abstract Textbooks are the main body of teaching materials, and also an important tool for students to gain the systematic knowledge. In order to stimulate students’ interest in learning English, and achieve teaching objectives ultimately, the best way is to appropriately integrate Chinese cultural elements into English textbooks, combining Chinese students living and learning practical. We all know that only knowing little about the native culture, you cannot well understand and master the culture of the target language. Considering the importance of English textbooks in English learning, the author chooses junior middle school textbook Go for it published by People’s Education Press in 2007 as the study subject. The paper utilizes Cortazzi and Jin’s theory on culture in English textbooks and Byram’s criteria for textbooks evaluation as the theoretical foundation, sometimes, combining with the native culture study abroad and at home. This thesis is to solve the question: whether there is a native culture fatigue phenomenon in Go for it. If have, what suggestions could be made? The study adopts the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis method. At first, there is an investigation into native culture’s distribution in junior middle school textbook with content analysis method, in order to investigate the proportion of native culture; then adopts the questionnaire investigation method. The questions involve the aspects of necessity, motivation, awareness, attitude and expressiveness of native culture in English. The results show that: Junior high school EFL learners were difficult to express in Eng1ish the contents about native culture appropriately; The input of Chinese culture in Go for it was inadequate; The Chinese cultural content in the textbooks is not all-inclusive.
