Finally they preferred litigating when they had problems. However, it is inevitable to bring out negative results for Huizhou merchants ’development. Based on history, on the one hand, this article tries to explore a new field in studying the Huizhou merchants from the perspective of legal history；on the other, it can provide the legislators with experience to handle the relationship between officials and merchants during the process of improving the market economy in China.
