College of Humanities and Development, China Agricultural University, Beijing 100193, China) Abstract: In the course of advancing urbanization, new rural communities construction has accumulated rich practical experience and formed unique characteristics of rural community development model. However, the emergence of new problems cannot be neglected. Based on a field investigation about the new communities of Z village in Henan, the paper finds that Z village has achieved considerable success, but there still exists some problems. For example, peasants livelihood is not easy to change, communities have strong external dependence, rural communities management has showed dual structure and the resource distribution of rural development is unbalanced. In order to promote the sustainable development of the new communities in Z village, the article points out some suggestions, which include changing the concept of community development, actively promoting the change of farmers livelihood, enhancing communities self-development capacity and optimizing the resource distribution of old and new communities.
