On March 18, 2005, her feeding tube was removed at her husband’s request. He argued that his wife wouldn’t have wanted to live on in this state, with no hope of recovery. According to the States’ law at that time, her husband was allowed to make treatment decisions for Terri. So the court finally gave its approval for the life support machines to be turned off. After 13 days, on March 31, she died. The decision of the court left Terri’s parents heartbroken and they couldn’t accept the shocking fact. In addition, many disabled people got together in front of the court and protested that such a decision was against their values and belief in the sacredness of human life. 【Text】 On our weekly show we invite an expert to speak about an issue in the news.
