Unit 2 Hobbies can make you grow as a person. 【教学目标】 Knowledge objective Key vocabulary—person, interest, skill, activity, sailing, result, pleasure, success Key structures—as a result, as well as, come out, develop one’s interest Ability objective To get information about David’s hobbies. To master the structure of the simple sentence. Moral objective To know more about other’s hobbies; To develop own interest in hobbies. 【教学重点】 1. To learn some expressions in the passage. 2. To learn the simple sentences. 【教学难点】 1. To get information from the article. 2. The use of as a result, as well as and such as. 【教学方法】 PWP method, task-based method 【教学手段】 multimedia and some pictures 【教学过程】 Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warming up Look at the pictures and guess what’s the hobby?Why can the hobby bring us? 1. ---Thank you for helping me. ---It is my pleasure. 2. _Pleased to meet you. 3. The _pleasant music makes me feel _pleased. Step 2 Consolidate new words Look and say. The teacher shows the pictures of new words and let the students to say as quickly as possible. Step 3 Lead in the new text Look at the picture and guess what David’s hobby is. Step 4 Fast –reading Students look through the passage very quickly and choose the structure of the passage. Step 5 Carefully reading Read Para 1 aloud and choose the main idea. Students retell the advantages of hobbies—Hobbies can make you grow as a person, develop your interests, and help you learn some new skills. Read Part 2 carefully and fill in the blanks to retell the experiences of David. After five minutes, students try to recite Part 2 with the help of given words. Notes: Translate the two sentences into Chinese. Pay attention to “as well as” “such as” “as a result”. Summarize the usage of “as”. Step 6 Consolidation Students watch a video to deeper their understanding of the passage. After watching, lead to the next activity. T: “So, what are David’s hobbies?” S: “Writing and playing volley
