With the rapid development of economy, code-switching has been increasingly popular on campus. Furthermore, it tends to be multi-language. Analyzing code-switching cases on campus from relevance theory, this paper indicates various causes which lead to code-switching among university students. Relevance theory provides a novel way of exploring this language trend. Through detailed analysis of corpora from campus, this thesis endeavors to help college students better understand code-switching and make less pragmatic mistakes. Without verbal language, such a useful communication device, it is extremely difficult for people to execute rights and obligations in society. When people meet others from dissimilar racial, cultural and geographical backgrounds, exchanging languages will occur definitely and inevitably owing to the communicating function of language. Put it into another way, social activities accompany code-switching which can assist human beings to make up the shortcomings of language during conversations.
